A wooden walkway covering 2.8 kilometres along the Alvor river is due to be completed in the coming week.
The walkway will provide access to both the river in Alvor and the beach and has been completed as part of a redevelopment project undertaken by Portimão Câmara in conjunction with the water management company of the Algarve (ARH).
The purpose of the walkway is not only to improve access but to also prevent visitors from walking and driving over the dunes.
The project represents an investment of €1.35 million, with 70% being provided by the EU, 20% by Portimão Câmara and 10% by ARH.
