New Vale do Lobo restaurant

A new restaurant, Gisela’s, has opened at the Praça at Vale do Lobo.

The woman behind the venture is Gisela Matthjis of Almancil-based gourmet private catering company Fine Dining in Style.

The restaurant takes over the space previously occupied by La Place and will offer 38 covers inside and a further 38 on the terrace.

The head chef is Philipp Glas de Sousa, a well-known member of the Fine Dining in Style team and the former Sous Chef of Amadeus which held a Michelin star for many years.

The restaurant will be open six days a week for lunch and dinner (closed

on Mondays), serving a high quality

selection of Portuguese and international cuisine.

Highlights of the lighter lunch menu include marinated tuna fish with black sesame and soy sauce on mango-avocado salad, chicken teriyaki kebabs served with Nasi goreng Indonesian rice, and half a dozen Ria Formosa oysters served with a glass

of Champagne.

The evening menu will offer a choice of starters, entrées, main courses and desserts.

Examples of the various dishes include Calvados flambéed quail with red lentil salad and caramelised apples, caldeirada (Portuguese stew) with leek and homemade tomato ravioli, rack and shoulder of Alentejo lamb with rocket polenta and grilled vegetables and more.
