THOMAS STEPHENSON has taken over as US Ambassadordesignate to Portugal from Alfred Hoffman.
Mr Stephenson was born in Delaware and after graduating from Ivy League universities, he worked as a securities analyst and venture capitalist. Mr Stephenson was active in the George W Bush 2000 Presidential Campaign and his wife Barbara serves as a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Arts and is the President of the Stephenson Foundation. Mr Stephenson has three adult daughters from a previous marriage and he and Barbara have a 15-year-old son.
