New synthetic grass pitch unveiled at Carvoeiro multisports field

Carvoeiro multisports field renovated to the tune of €133,000

Lagoa Council has completed renovation works at the Praia do Carvoeiro multisports field, which now boasts a new synthetic grass pitch.

The works lasted 90 days and cost around €133,000, the council says.

“The multisports field of Praia do Carvoeiro has needed an intervention for a long time and its renovation was one of the demands of the people of Ferragudo, especially amongst youngsters who use the field very frequently,” says a council statement.

The field has been completely replaced with a synthetic grass pitch, which can be used to play a wide variety of sports from futsal and handball to basketball and tennis.

The protective net around the field has also been replaced, while the draining system has been improved upon and the surrounding walls have been painted.

The sports field is open to the population for free without any need to book in advance.

These kinds of multisports fields have proven successful in Lagoa, where the council is also preparing to replace the rundown pitch at Bela Vista.

“The multiuse spaces in the borough have been a success and we did not hesitate to create a space with the same conditions at Praia do Carvoeiro. We are preparing to replace (the pitch) at Bela Vista and in Lagoa,” said Lagoa mayor Luís Encarnação.

He added that the council is also planning improvements at the Quinta de São Pedro and Porches multisports fields.
