São Brás de Alportel || It’s named ‘Made In Loco’, represents a €15,000 investment and aims to promote the Algarve’s “high quality products”.
This is how local association In Loco describes its new store, which opened on August 2 in the municipal market of São Brás de Alportel selling only “carefully selected top quality” products “made in the Algarve”.
“Made In Loco” is more than a shop,” the association says. “It’s a project that reinforces the commitment of In Loco to the development of the Algarve.”
According to the association, everything from wines, jams and olive oils to honey, liqueurs and regional sweets are sold at the shop, whose display units are recycled wooden pallets.
But that is not all, as In Loco guarantees there’s a little something for everyone.
The association says that it “didn’t forget consumers who prefer natural cosmetic and hygiene products, such as soaps and creams”, and the shop also boasts an offer of organic teas and “decorative and utilitarian handicraft, made with traditional products and innovative techniques”.
All of these products are prepared with the Algarve’s “rigour and ancestral wisdom,” In Loco says.
One of the distinctive options that the shop will soon be offering will be its baskets.
Customers will be able to make up their own baskets with the many products displayed on the shelves, making it a “good option” for those “who wish to give their friends and family a gift of the best the Algarve has to offer”.
A total of €15,000 was invested by the association to bring the project to life, while rural development programme PRODER helps with the promotion of the regional products sold by the store.
Its furnishing was built entirely with old pallets provided by the Algarve’s solid waste management company ALGAR.
Nelson Dias, the president of In Loco, told the Resident that the plan is to open similar stores in other towns across the Algarve as “the cost of doing so is very accessible”.
The shop is open Monday from 9am to 1pm, Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 7.30pm, and Saturdays from 8.30am to 1.30pm.
