With accommodation for visiting pilgrims still not totally assured, and requests continuing for more volunteers to support the event, a new spanner in the works has come for World Youth Day with the announcement by the union of ticket sales and inspectors of CP (Comboios de Portugal, the railways operator) that it will be continuing its partial strike to the end of the event, which expects an influx of around 1.5 million people. This strike will affect the 48 special trains planned for World Youth Day, says a source for the union.
