A NEW soap opera for Portuguese television station TVI, called Mundo Meu (My World), includes scenes shot in Alvor and Portimão. Those watching the new soap, which is shown at 11pm nightly on TVI during the week, will be able to see beautiful views of the beaches and areas within the town centres.
The storyline follows a young girl, who is the daughter of Portuguese emigrants living in Paris. However, when her parents die in a car crash, the girl decides to return to the Algarve, and to Alvor where she has an aunt. The soap features many well known, established Portuguese actors as well as younger talent, and the lead role of Rita Batalha is played by Margarida Vila-Nova.
The President of Portimão Câmara, Manuel da Luz, is reportedly delighted that the TV company has chosen his borough for filming, commenting: “There is no price that can be put on this promotion of the borough. We hope that the beauty of these images will attract the curiosity of many, many people to come and visit.”
