WITH THE emergence of the Russian market, there are prospects for the creation of new routes from Russia to Faro airport in 2006, according to the Algarve tourism board (RTA). It plans to invest around eight million euros in the promotion of these routes to foreign markets.
“According to the new routes agreement, the Algarve must invest more in promoting itself to those markets,” said the president of RTA, Hélder Martins, who supports the continuation of investment in the main markets of England, Germany and Spain.
To promote the region locally is also one of the objectives for the future. “With participation in various incentives, such as fairs for example, we believe that we can bring more visitors and businesses to the Algarve. In time, we will go abroad and promote ourselves there,” Martins added.
