Monte’s, Lagos’ newest restaurant, officially opened its doors to customers on Friday, May 2.
Located at the entrance to Boavista Golf Resort, the new restaurant and coffee lounge, decorated by interior designer and The Resident contributor Teresa Azevedo Coutinho, is operated by Russell and Deirdre Morgan. Russell is chairman of The Crown Group, one of the UK’s leading hospitality companies, and co-owns the celebrated 2 Star Michelin restaurant, Midsummer House in Cambridge.
Deirdre owns a home on the Funchal Ridge, where the couple cultivate their own organic gardens.
The coffee lounge offers gourmet blends of coffee from around the globe with a menu of home baked pastries, desserts, cakes and shortbreads as well as snacks and light lunches. A wireless network facility is also available for business meetings or work lunches.
In the restaurant, Scottish World Master Chef Ian McKemmie creatively presents Mediterranean style cuisine. The menu, composed of local ingredients, includes starters such as tartlet of caramelised goats cheese, main courses such as Seafood Casserole and desserts such as sticky toffee pudding with Cornish clotted cream.
Restaurant Manager Mário Duarte says: “We welcome the opportunity to offer guests a friendly, professional service with a passion for creating incomparable cuisine using only the finest and freshest ingredients.”
