Filinto Lima, president of the national association of school grouping directors, claims the new rule designed to ensure that school pupils receive a minimum of three lesson periods per day has created “total war in schools”, with teachers feeling their struggle is being undermined. Lima has told reporters he believes the move, decreed by the Court of Arbitration, will simply harden positions ahead of negotiations between syndicates and the government on Wednesday and then again on Friday this week.
