New park for Tavira

news: New park for Tavira

Construction of a new park for Tavira that will include a running circuit, cycling lane and walking trails is set to start this year.

The Parque Verde do Séqua will be located on the left bank of River Séqua, parallel to Rua João Vaz Corte Real, and represents an investment of nearly €580,000, co-funded by the EU (€353,000).

Covering an area from the railway bridge to Rua Borda d’Água da Assêca, the park project also foresees a car park with 66 spaces and the complete landscaping of the land.

A statue in honour of Tavira sailor João Vaz Corte Real is also planned for the area.

Award-winning landscaping company Vibeiras won the public tender that had been launched by Tavira Câmara.

This project is included in the 2013 municipal budget and was the most voted for by the local residents under the Tavira participative budgeting.
