New opening hours for Sintra’s parks

SINTRA’S PARKS are the subject of new opening hours, following a recent announcement by the câmara.

Parque da Liberdade, which surrounds Volta do Duche in Vila de Sintra, will be open from 9am to 7pm during the summer, and in the winter from 9am to 5pm.

Meanwhile, the Parque das Merendas, located in Sintra’s Estrada da Pena, can be visited between 10am and 6pm until August 31 (closed Mondays), and between 10am and 5pm from September 1 to October 31, although during this period the park will only be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This particular park has been totally renovated and was reopened to the public on June 5 (World Day of the Environment), after being closed for six years. There are new trees and plants, new benches and tables, toilets and refreshment facilities, as well as improved signage and information boards. In totality, the park enjoys an area of 3.5 hectares and boasts an abundance of trees.

The parks of Pena and Monserrate have the following opening hours: until September 15, from 9am to 8pm, and September 16 to October 31, from 9am until 7pm. Both parks are open daily.

Sintra’s parks are ideal when wishing to seek out some shady relief during the hotter months. Apart from enjoying a walk, there are many other activities available and the parks also provide the perfect place to enjoy a picnic.
