afpop, Portugal’s largest association for foreign residents, moved to new offices in the first week of the new year.
The new premises, which are next door to the Portimão office that afpop has used as a base for the past 10 years, have almost double the space of the previous office.
Chief Executive Michael Reeve (pictured) says that the new space will “not only create the opportunity to expand the range of services available to afpop members, but will also actually save the association a significant amount of money each year”.
Michael Reeve explained: “Renting office space is only part of the administration costs for afpop. For example, the previous office was too small to hold meetings for more than a few people and had no storage space. This meant that we had to rent a room each month for council meetings and also pay for storage for archive material.
“Now that we have been able to remove both of those expenses, the rental costs for afpop will be halved each year. This is, of course, very welcome and means that we can keep membership fees at the same rate that have been in force for the past eight years.”
afpop is located at Urb. Poço Fojo, Rua dos Bombeiros Voluntários. Lote 5 Loja A in Portimão.
