Further municipalities expected to be added to Portugal’s list of nighttime curfews

Today (Thursday) is the moment for yet another Council of Ministers in which decisions are made with a view to limiting the spread of Covid-19 which invariably limit citizens’ freedoms and mobility.

Tabloid Correio da Manhã is saying that the list of municipalities bound by 11pm curfews and other restrictions (see here for examples) is almost certain to be increased.

Meantime political pressure for a revision of the way in which these decisions are taken is increasing.

PSD MPs are pushing for the much-criticised ‘risk matrix’ to be revised, to take into account rates of vaccination and become more ‘dynamic’ (ie start to be based on data for the last seven days, not 14 click here).

The Council of Ministers rarely reports its decisions before 3pm.

Updates to come.
