New Mercedes-Benz Popemobile

Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, handed over the keys to the new official papal vehicle, a modified Mercedes-Benz M Class, to the Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, at a recent meeting in the Vatican City. The vehicle was built specifically for the Pontiff and will be used for the first time later this month in his official visit to Brazil. “We are extremely happy that His Holiness, Pope Francis, has entrusted his security and comfort in our vehicles,” Zetsche said.

The Mercedes-Benz brand has been providing vehicles for the trips and official appearances of the head of the Catholic Church for more than 80 years.
