New micro generation laws for grid connected Photovoltaic (PV) solar systems in Portugal have now been released, with a fixed rate for solar energy.
Private solar energy producers will now be paid 40 cents per KWh for the first eight years of production followed by 24 cents per KWh for the following seven years.
The maximum capacity of sell back to EDP at these rates will be 3.68 KW for residential properties or 11.04 KW for condominiums and the PV system can be either fixed or a tracker type of system.
A spokesman for the Enovagroup said: “Return on investment can be made in 10 years or less which makes real financial sense bearing in mind the rates are guaranteed for 15 years and solar panels carry warranties up to 25 years.”
