Lagos Council has released plans for a new esplanade above the recently finished underground car park alongside the main Avenida dos Descobrimentos.
The project, which is expected to cost around €1.5 million, includes four new pavilions containing bars, coffee shops and newsagents.
Each pavilion will also provide areas to host shows, exhibitions and other entertainment.
Work is expected to take four to five months, with the Câmara saying ”every effort will be made to ensure that everything is finished and running by July/August 2012”.
However, it added: “There are many variables that are not directly controlled, and that could and may affect our intentions.”
