Uddo is the name of a new Japanese restaurant which opened at the Epic Sana Algarve Hotel in Albufeira on Friday, July 30, promising to become a favourite among lovers of Asian food in the Algarve.
The menu was developed by head chef and sushiman Dhiego Silva, who aims to provide his guests with a “memorable experience” and “total freedom of choice”.
By combining the freshness of Algarvian products and the techniques of Japanese cuisine, Silva hopes to create something truly unique.
The restaurant is described as a modern take on the Izakaya concept, a Japanese word meaning “stay-drink-place”.
Toro Tataki and almond puree, scallops with moscatel ponzo or king crab okonomiyaki are just some of the highlight dishes on the menu, which also features a range of sushi and sashimi and other Japanese classics.
Meals can be accompanied by traditional Japanese beverages such as sake, sochu, Japanese beer and Japanese whiskey, or by one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails.
The restaurant’s décor is inspired by its name (Uddo means ‘wood’ in Japanese) and aims to create “an elegant and relaxed atmosphere inspired by Japanese culture”.
The restaurant is open between 6pm and 10.30pm. It closes on Tuesdays. Due to Covid-19 social distancing rules, the capacity of the resort’s a la carte restaurants is limited. Reservations should be booked in advance.
