New international art fair

An international art fair involving 55 artists will be taking place for the first time in Loulé between June 26 and 28.

The Arte Algarve festival will bring together painters, illustrators, sculptors, photographers and film makers from across the world.

Organiser Rolf Osang said: “The objective of Arte Algarve is to add cultural impetus to the Algarve and place it firmly on the international map for art lovers worldwide.”

He added: “Artists at the fair will be able to sell their work direct to the public without the customary commission normally charged by private galleries and we will be publishing a high quality catalogue to promote the participants’ work in the art world.”

English painter and fire eater Roo Burridge, former professional wrestler turned abstract artist Roger Green and Portuguese artist Stela Barreto will all be at the fair, while others from Poland and Germany will be travelling to the Algarve to present their work.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to enjoy live music performances and take part in a tombola.

The Arte Algarve fair will be held at the Expo Algarve centre in Loulé. The fair is open to the public from 2.30pm until 8pm with entry costing three euros.
