THE PRESIDENT of Portugal, Cavaco Silva, inaugurated a new public-private partnership hospital in Lisbon last week.
Joined by the Health Minister, Correia de Campos, and the Minister for Economy and Innovation, Manuel Pinho, Cavaco Silva said that there was room in Portugal for more private initiatives in the Portuguese National Health Service.
The new Hospital da Luz in Carnide is expected to carry out around 13,000 operations a year and has beds for 11,000 patients.
