New handicrafts centre to open in Lagoa

Lagoa is set to become the handicraft capital of the Algarve.
In a new project by Arte Algarve, a shop stocking regional products and handicrafts, on the grounds that house the gallery, will soon become part of “the Algarve’s centre for creative goods”.
The idea is for local artisans to sell their products alongside art works on show at the Única-Adega Cooperativa do Algarve complex.
The shop, to be called Árvore (Tree), is expected to open in July and will be brought to life in the complex’s former canteen, hoping to attract residents as well as tourists.
Also coming to the complex is a bio-market every Saturday morning, which will feature live music as well as tastings of olive oils, honey, cheese and local liquors.
Meantime, over 30 people have already signed up for the new ‘Crafts and Creativity’ fair to go ahead over the weekend of June 14 and 15. The fair will be open between 11am and 6pm.
