New government portal lets patients book appointments online and check casualty waiting times

In a bid to make the service much more efficient – and preclude heated incidents that have peppered overworked casualty departments up and down the country – the government has introduced a new portal on its www.sns.gov.pt site which allows people to book appointments, check waiting times in the nearest hospitals and renew prescriptions. The site also displays updated information in real time, reports news media.
