THREE ORGANISATIONS have clubbed together to provide a football pitch at Pirilampos children’s home in Albufeira.
The Central Algarve Ladies Luncheon Group, who meet monthly, the Amigos das Crianças and Esdav Lda, raised the money needed for the small pitch, something that the children have wanted for a long time.
Pirilampos is part of the Sta Casa da Misericordia de Albufeira, situated three miles outside of Albufeira and is home to 45 children.
The home offers the children basic living accommodation in a caring environment with regular meals.
Since 1995, Peta Birch of the Amigos das Crianças group has been helping Pirilampos, raising money and liaising with other fundraising groups to help the home continue its important work. Via Amigos das Crianças Peta raised additional funds to enlarge the pitch, renovate the swings, seesaws and roundabouts for the children.
Esdav Lda, founded in the Algarve more than 25 years ago, is one of the biggest landscape contractors in the region and willingly undertook the work and donated the goalposts, three picnic tables and various play items for the children.
The children were delighted when Esdav gave them each a T-shirt with their names printed on the back.
