FOLLOWING A five year wait due to bureaucratic problems, the green light has finally been given for a new five star hotel to be built in the borough of Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA).
The 600 bed luxury hotel will be constructed in the Quinta da Ria resort, situated in Vila Nova de Cacela alongside two golf courses, and is due to open in Easter of 2008. The hotel represents an investment of more than 50 million euros by the Robinson Group, part of the World of Tui organisation.
The current executive board at VRSA council blamed the bureaucratic delay on the previous council team, but is said to be delighted that the hotel is finally going ahead. A VRSA Câmara spokesperson said: “This is another important step to developing this borough as a tourist destination.”
