A new department is available at the Hospital Particular do Algarve, both in Alvor and Faro, to provide a personalised service to all Care Card holders as well as to foreign health insurance policy holders.
Realising that language can be a barrier at times, the management hopes the new department will facilitate communication with foreign patients regarding issues such as necessary documentation and bureaucracy in Portugal.
Assistance will be provided in establishing immediate communication between the patient and the insurance company, as well as providing a direct liaison between the hospital staff, the patient and the patient’s family.
According to a hospital spokesman, “a Care Card holder, and their immediate family, will not only be able to take advantage of a 10 per cent discount on all hospital bills, but will also benefit from other advantages, such as easy access to medical files, priority in the making of appointments and exams as well as special payment facilities.”
