New era for Atelier do Sul

Design consultancy Atelier do Sul have announced changes to the structure of the company which they believe will see the business “increase productivity and creativity, benefitting both employees and clients”.

Sandra Matos, previously the head of the sign, display and exhibition design, is now the overall managing director of the company, while senior designer André Phillips becomes a junior partner in the firm.

Fred Phillips, founder of Atelier do Sul more than 30 years ago, will continue to look after brands and the global communication needs of clients as CEO.

In a bid to maximise productivity within the design consultancy, the entire design team has been moved into one studio at the Boliqueime offices. This combined with new working practices, partly as a benefit of the government and EC funded human resources programme and partly as a result of challenging the design team to be more autonomous and proactive within the company, has resulted in better communication and a faster job turnaround.

Fred Phillips said: “All members of staff and management have given outstanding support, sacrificing their personal time and benefits to the common goal of improving services and business methods during this demanding period.  This also goes for staff who have recently left the company due to necessary restructuring and we wish them continued success.”

André Phillips said: “We are indeed entering a new, exciting phase for Atelier do Sul and all of us have learned from our experiences. As a team, we firmly believe that the only way for us to go is forward.”
