Apart from the existing dog park at Pinheiros de Marim Sports and Leisure Park and this newly inaugurated Levante dog park, the future dog parks will be located in the Turolhão, Custódia Mendes, and Quinta João de Ourém neighborhoods, near the sports facilities in Pechão and Fuseta, and next to the Lusitano Ginásio Clube Moncarapachense football field.

“The establishment of this network of dog parks across the municipality follows the rising number of (citizens with) pets and aims to address the desires expressed by many residents, who have expressed the need for dedicated spaces for their animals, where they can enjoy more freedom, have fun, and exercise,” Pina said at the inauguration ceremony.

The mayor also highlighted the work that has been carried out by the borough in recent years regarding animal welfare.

“Over the past two years, we have been making efforts to enhance the capacity of two very important sectors: the Veterinary Medical Office, where the number of sterilisations and consultations has increased significantly, and the construction of the new Official Animal Shelter, an investment exceeding €1.2 million, which will be inaugurated very soon,” he said.
