New cookery courses

Following the successful cookery course held at the Portugal Tourist Board’s Catering and Hotel Management College in Faro at the end of November,  afpop announces two further dates for additional courses that have been arranged with the college. The first will be held in Faro on Tuesday, April 30 and the second at the college in Portimão on Tuesday, May 7.

Both courses will start at 8.30am with a visit to the market to purchase ingredients, then on to the college for a presentation about the course and advice on cooking techniques before starting the food preparation and cooking.

Suggestions for the starters are scampi with tartar sauce and a shot of lemon grass, monkfish kebab with white butter sauce and razor clams with aneth foam.

For the main course the suggestions are octopus casserole with seafood and pork tenderloin confit with citrus. The dessert is Carob tart with honey.

At 1pm, the participants will lunch on the ‘fruits of their efforts’ accompanied by suitable drinks. After lunch there will be a chance to learn how to create almond cake petit fours.  The courses will end at 4pm.

The price per person is €75 for afpop members and €95 for non-members.

Places are limited so prior reservation is recommended.
