New charity shop in aid of Tavira’s needy

The inauguration of a new shop in aid of the Helping Hands Charity (Associação de Caridade Mãos de Ajuda) in Tavira resulted in over €600 being raised on the first day. The primary aim of the association is to raise money for people in need in and around Tavira.

The shop, with its friendly volunteers, will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 1pm and is situated some 50m down from the Porta Nova Post Office.

The driving force behind the project, Betty Dowell, was delighted with the opening day and looks forward to many more successful days.

Betty’s husband Willy fitted out the spacious premises with its well organised display of goods. So if you’ve got any redundant gifts, surplus clothing or toys please drop them in at the shop and, whilst you are there, take the opportunity to browse the stock which includes good condition clothing and accessories, household linens and curtains, items for the home, books, films and music on DVD and CD.

For more information, visit the shop at 13A Avenida Dr. Eduardo Mansinho or telephone 963 558 138 during opening hours.
