Construction of a new campsite in Pereiro, near Alcoutim, has begun.
The Parque de Merendas e Auto Caravanismo do Pereiro is located near the dam and includes a picnic area with barbecue facilities and toilets, a sports area and car park.
Support equipment for 16 motor homes will be made available, allowing motor homers access to potable water, battery chargers and wastewater disposal facilities.
Construction of the campsite, expected to be concluded by March 2012, represents an investment of €174,900, partly funded by the EU.
A similar facility for motor homes exists in Alcoutim.
