A new species of nocturnal butterfly has been ‘discovered’ on the Alentejan coast. Ypsolopha milfontensis can be found between Vila Nova de Milfontes and Cabo Sardão. For how long though is unclear. The team of scientists that have identified it – from CIBIO-InBIO (the Porto University ‘centre for investigation in biodiversity and genetic resources) – believe it to be a species ‘potentially in danger of extinction’.
