NEW BUSINESS parks are planned for Portimão and Almancil – initiatives which are aimed at boosting local economies by attracting new companies and creating more jobs.
Portimão Câmara is offering the Associação do Comércio e Serviços (ACRAL), business and services association, the land for the future Fórum Empresarial de Portimão, and an agreement was signed at a ceremony held recently, at which the architectural plans for the building were also presented.
As well as providing an office for ACRAL and the business associations of Portimão, the Fórum will also house a business support centre that will offer the services of a registry, a notary, a social security section and a tax office, as well as a branch of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos bank. There are also plans to offer professional training at the centre. Other facilities included in the project are a 160 seat auditorium, exhibition space and a restaurant/bar.
Meanwhile, plans are also underway to build a business centre in the Almancil area, on land behind the Venepão bakery, which is close to the GNR station, situated in the street that leads up to the Loulé railway station. The first meeting took place this month between the Câmara and the land owners of the proposed site, at which Seruca Emídio, President of Loulé Câmara, commented: “This business park will have a positive impact on the local economy and will not only create new jobs, but help in projecting the image of the borough. We also hope it will help strengthen the existing companies in Almancil, as well as attracting new business to the area.”
