A new duplicate bridge club opened at Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis on November 20.
The inaugural Bridge Day was supported by players from clubs throughout the Algarve.
Ignatius (Iggy) Gannon, spokesman for the club, said: “The turnout far exceeded our expectations, with five tables playing. The tennis club has made us feel very welcome, providing us with a delightful room in which to play.”
Wendy Hallam, director of Carvoeiro Clube de Ténis, said: “We are delighted to have the Bridge Club. It dovetails perfectly with our other activities.”
The club meets every Thursday at 2pm. Cost is €5.
