New beach restaurant opens at Praia da Falésia

A new beach restaurant and bar has opened at Praia da Falésia in Albufeira.

Sora Beach Club is part of the Domes Lake Algarve resort and aims to be an “homage to the culinary world of the Algarve.”

Portuguese seafood dishes, hearty steaks, grilled seafood, and organic veggie options are all part of the menu, which also features signature cocktails, mocktails (non-alcoholic) and fruit juices.

Led by chef Vítor Moreira, Sora Beach Club is promising a “unique gastronomic experience” with the Atlantic Ocean and Portugal’s vast coast – “and everything it gives us”- as the main inspiration for the menu.

Inspired by the ocean

Among the highlights are oysters, fish ‘cataplana’ (a stew cooked in a clam-shaped copper pot), fish ‘massada’ (fish and stew pasta), clams, piri-piri chicken and Black Angus steak, which are served at any time of the day “before or after a swim in the sea,” says the chef.

Moreira’s culinary journey in the hospitality sector began in 1999 at Hotel Concorde La Fayette and has led him to other renowned hotels, having later showcased his talent at major events such as the Roland-Garros ATP Tournament and the International Paris Air Show Le Bourget”.

After beginning at the Lake Resort as a sous-chef, he took full command of the hotel’s kitchen as Executive Chef in 2018, where he remains, creating a “series of tasteful wonders, catering to the most demanding of appetites.”

Sit back and relax

Meanwhile, Domes Lake Algarve general manager Alexandre Maia de Carvalho highlights the restaurant’s “fantastic view, lounge music and smell of holidays in the air” which he believes will attracts clients and have them returning for more.

As the restaurant’s website says: “Sit back, relax, close your eyes, and let the cool breeze imprint the captivating images of the Portuguese coastline, on your mind.”

The restaurant is open from Sunday to Thursday between noon and 6pm, and on Friday and Saturday between noon and 9pm.
