CASCAIS HAS been named as a new hotspot for art buyers and gallery hoppers by a leading American newspaper, increasing the already high-profile nature of the cosmopolitan Lisbon suburb.
The article, A Lisbon Suburb Turns Up the Chic, was published in the New York Times and focuses on an emerging art scene in Cascais.
The town is now developing into a Mecca for contemporary artists, largely due to the opening of the Ellipse Foundation Contemporary Art Centre last October, showcasing the work of more than 80 artists.
The promotion of a new art scene is further supported by the creation of numerous designer hotels, the opening of hip boutiques and a 150 million euro investment in the marina.
