A NEW bottlenose dolphin was born at Zoomarine in Albufeira on December 16, which will add to the park’s collection of marine mammals.
The baby boy (pictured), whose name was to be chosen by the public on Tuesday, was born to the park’s “prettiest” female dolphin Colby. According to Zoomarine, the father, Sam, aged 48, is the oldest known male of the bottlenose species in the world.
Élio Vicente, director of science and education at Zoomarine, said: “Naturally, this birth fills us with pride and is part of the park’s management and reproduction programme of marine mammals.”
