Following the story covered last month in the Resident, new tragedy has hit the American couple who travelled to Portugal for their last holiday before the arrival of twins.
Tiny Hudson – the little boy born over three months premature – lost his battle for life even before his parents had the joy of holding him.
Now, their hopes and prayers are centred on Hudson’s sister Hayden Grace. But as they sit out this ongoing nightmare, Kim and Fred Spratt have spoken of the sadness they feel as doctors at Lisbon’s Alfredo Costa maternity hospital have told them they should never have embarked on their “dream trip” to Europe while Kim was carrying her twins.
As Fred explained to TVI 24, the couple were told a number of times during regular consultations in the US that it was fine to fly.
Now, however, the reality of being “trapped in Portugal” is weighing heavily, as neither parent is earning, and they are far from loved-ones who can help them.
Thus a new appeal has been set up on Facebook, to complement the one already running on gofundme.com.
For details of the appeal, see TwinsinPortugal.
