New animal sanctuary for Faro

FARO CÂMARA is set to build a large domestic animal sanctuary next year at a cost of 800,000 euros.

The decision to build the shelter arose after authorities noted that there were insufficient centres in the area catering to the welfare, treatment and shelter of domestic animals.

Faro Technical Support Office has already outlined a preliminary architectural study for the sanctuary that is set to house 352 dogs and cats. Facilities will include a waiting room, veterinary office, operating theatre, maternity department, quarantine area and outpatient unit as well as playing and training fields.
