New Algarve hospital “will be built”

PORTUGUESE HEALTH Minister, Correia de Campos, stated categorically that the Algarve will receive a new central hospital during the term of the present government.

The statement was made when the minister visited the Algarve recently to address the Socialist Party (PS) local government convention in Albufeira. Speaking later at a dinner in Silves for the formal presentation of Silves PS mayoral candidate, Lisete Romão, the minister again stated that the hospital would be built “within the four years that lie ahead”, though he did not give a date for the commencement of the works.

The proposed Hospital Central do Algarve will be constructed in the Parque das Cidades, between Loulé and Faro, and has long been considered a priority project by local authorities, health professionals and the general public.
