The inauguration of the supermarket chain’s 261st point of sale represents an investment of three million euros and will generate 50 new jobs in the region.
Albufeira’s new Intermarché store is opening its doors to the public tomorrow, Thursday, November 17. The Vale Pedras shop is the 261st opening of the Os Mosqueteiro Group’s banner store in Portugal. Representing an investment of three million euros, it will generate 50 new jobs in the region.
“It is with great pride and satisfaction that we open the largest and most recent Intermarché store in Albufeira. Given its size, we will move the Montechoro store to this new location, integrating all 70 employees in this new point of sale in Vale Pedras”, explains Ana Paula Barbosa, owner of the new Intermarché store and Santa Eulália stores, Cerro Grande and Montechoro.
“Due to the increase in the number of sections, it will also be necessary to strengthen the team in the store, creating a further 50 new jobs in the region. By strengthening and valuing our teams, we will be able to provide an excellent service and make the best products available at affordable prices to all Albufeira residents”, she guarantees.
Part of Intermarché’s expansion policy in Portugal, the new store will be the largest in the Albufeira region, with a total area of 2,200 square meters and 280 indoor and outdoor parking spaces.
60% of the store will be dedicated to the fresh products section, including a fishmonger, butcher, charcuterie, takeaway, bakery, fruit shop, grill and restoration. This large section will enable the Intermarché store to continue prioritising regional and local products, as well as introduce international products to meet the needs of Albufeira’s growing number of tourists and foreign residents.
The new establishment also includes a parapharmacy, hairdresser, florist, newspaper shop and shoemaker/locksmith. It will also feature a low-cost petrol station, where AdBlue liquid and charging stations for electric cars will be available.
