LAGOS AND Portimão câmaras have asked for a study to be carried out to determine where the new regional airport should be located.
The facility aims to complement the new race track currently under construction near Portimão as well as the existing and planned resorts in the region.
COBA, Consultores para Obras, Barragens e Planeamento, a consulting company focusing on large construction projects and dams, is responsible for the study.
The new airport should have a longer runway than the one at Faro airport and private investors have already expressed interest in financing and developing the project.
