PORTUGUESE MINISTER of national defence, Nuno Severiano Teixeira, officially received the first C-295M transport aircraft on behalf of the Portuguese air force last week.
The new aircraft was delivered to Getafe air base, Madrid, on November 19 and is the first of 12 new planes intended to replace the existing fleet.
Seven of the planes will be used for military transport while the remaining five will be used for maritime surveillance.
