A new easyJet route connecting Basel, Switzerland, to Faro was inaugurated last week.
The direct link to Basel will be served on an A320 aircraft that seats 174 and will operate two weekly flights, on Wednesdays (departing Basel at 6.05am and arriving in Faro at 7.55am, and returning from Faro at 8.30am and arriving in Basel at 12.20pm) and on Saturdays (departing Basel at 4.20pm and arriving in Faro at 6.10pm, and returning from Faro at 6.50pm and arriving in Basel at 10.40pm).
It is expected that the new route will bring approximately 6,000 more passengers into Faro Airport by September 1.
Algarve reception
At the launch of the Basel flight, passengers in Faro were welcomed with a typical Algarve reception, including Portuguese music, locally made cork products, and fig and almond liquors.
“easyJet is strongly committed to its passengers and the tourism industry in Portugal, which prompted us to inaugurate this new route from Faro and reinforce our goal of connecting Portugal with all major European cities,” said Javier Gandara, Director of easyJet Portugal and Spain.
