At the request of José Apolinário, President of Faro Câmara, a new footbridge has been constructed to link the city to Faro Island.
The walkway can sustain between 100 and 130 people at any one time, and will open pending the results of an environmental study. It is hoped that more people will use the footbridge to walk to the island, rather than drive there. José Apolinário hopes that the new bridge will mean fewer cars pollute the island.
