In an attempt to prove that “anything is possible” if you put your heart into it, a couple is preparing to open what they describe as the “largest gym in the Algarve” and “one of the largest in Portugal” this Sunday (November 14) at 4pm.
The nearly 3,000sqm gym is located in Pedra Mourinha (Portimão) and will be called Epic Fitness. It is owned by João and Carla Araújo, who also own the Amarillis gym in Praia da Rocha.
In a statement to the press, the couple says that they had to overcome “the uncertainty and economic fragility that the pandemic brought to the lives of small business owners”.
Despite the challenges, the couple decided to bite the bullet and invest over €1.5 million to bring the project to life.
“Our courage to move forward has prevailed. We cannot give up on something that we want so badly,” said Clara and João.
The gym will boast a large bodybuilding hall and cardio training room, “state-of-the-art” technology, three multipurpose studios, an indoor heated pool with a sauna and Turkish bath, a CrossBox for crossfit lovers, a climbing wall and a “Ninja Warriors” ramp.
Epic Fitness will also offer a range of services, from personal trainers to nutritionists and physiotherapists.
