International Women’s Day (Wednesday, March 8) has been chosen as the day to reunite former members of the no-longer-active Algarve businesswomen’s association, Network. It is described as “an opportunity to celebrate friendship” as well as to raise funds for a worthy cause.
The Network Charity Reunion Dinner will be held at The Raj Restaurant in The Holiday Inn, Armação de Pêra at 7.30pm.
Network was founded in 1990 by Deirdre Hickey (O’Flynn) and Susie Gale, and conceived as a forum where businesswomen could meet on a regular basis to exchange views and ideas related to professional issues.
In 2005, the association recorded a membership of over 150 businesswomen but later found that due to changes in the financial regulations on associations, it was no longer viable to continue.
Those attending the dinner will also be raising funds for “The Mames and Mininus Project”, which provides healthcare for young women and newborn children in Lembá, S. Tomé e Príncipe, an area that has very high rates of infant mortality.
