Network, the association for women working in the Algarve, recently held its AGM.
The event was, as usual, a lively affair, and discussion over the budget for the forthcoming year reinforcing the necessity to prudently manage the association’s financial affairs. Membership will be key to Network’s continuing success and the newly elected committee members are already planning new ideas for the forthcoming months.
Samantha Felisberto was elected President and in her address promised that her tenure as President “would not be boring”.
Also elected were Connie Brown VP (joining Lynn Kenny in the central area), Lindsay Hanson VP (joining Christel Schluender in the western area), Philippa Rowatt Treasurer, Sue Ketley and Do Eves Fiscal Council, and Marilyn Stebbe VP General Assembly.
Outgoing President Janice Russell announced that Sheena Rawcliffe, Managing Director of MMS Publishing, which publishes the Algarve Resident, was Network Woman of the Year.
Janice said: “Sheena is an ambassador for women everywhere and has a Tigger-like quality, bouncing up even when adversity strikes,”
Sheena, who is the President of Network’s General Assembly, was totally surprised by the award – the second time that she had been awarded it – and told her colleagues in Network that she was honoured to receive the accolade.
