Nepal earthquake registered in Portugal

This week’s devastating earthquake in Nepal with its ensuing replicas has started being registered in Portugal. Over the last few days, the country’s seismic stations have begun “feeling” the shocks, reports radio station TSF, quoting IPMA seismologist Fernando Carrilho as saying this is actually quite normal and will continue for “weeks if not months”.

See IPMA’s seismology chart for more information: http://www.ipma.pt/pt/geofisica/sismologia/

The chart shows clearly that since the Nepal quake, Portugal/Portuguese territories have registered over a dozen quakes, all of them low density.

Only one is registered as having been ‘felt’ north east of Arraiolos on Sunday, the day after the first and largest Nepal quake.
