Landmines kill 53 in bus
53 people have been killed and 40 others have been wounded after a bus drove over arebel landmine. The Nepalese army are blaming Maoist rebels for the attack at Madi village in the Chitwan district, a rebel stronghold. An officer said the strength of the blast has made it difficult to give exact casualty figures, but the death toll is likely to increase. Due to the explosion, and ongoing violence, tens of thousands of people have fled their homes in the countryside.
