MADEIRA’S LEGISLATIVE Assembly has presented an official complaint to the Public Prosecutor against a regional parliamentarian for unfurling a Nazi Swastika flag during a meeting of the island’s parliament.
Partido Nova Democracia (PDN) member José Manuel Coelho shocked fellow deputies last week in Madeira by calling the ruling PSD party “fascists” and unfurling the flag in an act which is illegal and considered unconstitutional by the Portuguese Constitution.
The maverick deputy claimed that the PSD party in Madeira were “camouflaged” as democrats when, in fact, they were more akin with the extreme right-wing.
